The Language Immersion Program has achieved great success and we seek to develop it in cooperation with the Education Development Center for Al-Azhar International Students, Head of the School of Dia Malila in Indonesia
Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, received Mr. Muhammad Zain Shamsuddin, the founder and head of the School of Dia Malila in Indonesia, accompanied by a delegation of students from the Tazakka Institute for Modern Islamic Education enrolled in the Language Immersion Program, in the presence of Prof. Nahla El-Saeedi, Advisor to the Grand Imam for International Students Affairs.
During the meeting, the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s interest in teaching its youth the Arabic language, the language of the Holy Quran, and the commitment to dispatching their students and researchers to learn the sciences of Sharia and language from their authentic sources. He stressed that Indonesian students studying at Al-Azhar set an example in their commitment to ethics and good manners, along with their keenness to acquire knowledge and academic sciences. He pointed out Al-Azhar’s keenness to enhance cooperation with various cultural and educational institutions in Indonesia, to achieve the dissemination of its global message in the service of Islam and Muslims.
For his part, Mr. Shamsuddin, expressed his happiness for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and his appreciation for his great efforts in promoting the culture of human brotherhood and supporting the causes of Muslims around the world. He stressed that the Grand Imam’s recent visit to Indonesia has had a great impact in promoting the values of brotherhood and tolerance in the country, and that Indonesians hold Al-Azhar in high esteem as the first scientific reference for Muslims around the world.
He pointed out that this is the second edition of the Language Immersion Program for the institute’s students, as the previous edition achieved great and remarkable success, and included a number of researchers with MA and PhD degrees. He added that his country seeks to develop the program in cooperation with the Education Development Center for Al-Azhar International Students at Al-Azhar, and to increase the number of those enrolled in the program, in response to the Indonesian people who seek to learn Islamic sciences at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
It is worth noting that the Language Immersion Program aims to train international students to improve their language skills, through a set of realistic activities that facilitate their linguistic interaction in various daily fields. It also seeks to highlight Al-Azhar’s pivotal role in spreading knowledge, and enhancing Egypt’s civilized image that spans seven thousand years, and its leading global position in exporting education and culture.
