His Eminence Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), inspected the main building of the Zakat and Charity House, inside the headquarters of Al-Azhar. His Eminence was accompanied by His Excellency Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Endowments, His Excellency Prof. Nazir Ayad, Grand Mufti of Egypt, His Eminence Prof. Mohamed Al-Dwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, and Sheikh Ayman Abdel-Ghani, Head of Al-Azhar Institutes Sector. They were received by Dr. Sahar Nasr, Executive Director of the Zakat and Charity House, Major General Amr Lotfy, Secretary-General of the House, a number of members of the Board of Trustees, and employees.

 

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar was keen to meet with the workers in the various departments of the Zakat and Charity House, and listen to a detailed explanation of the services provided by the House to the beneficiaries, and the work of each department. He stressed the need to persevere and continue to provide the best service to the beneficiaries of the House’s services, and to employ modern technology to facilitate the disbursement of zakat and alms and their delivery to those entitled to them, especially in light of the difficult economic conditions.

 

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar also stressed the need to exert efforts to continue extending a helping hand to the poor and the vulnerable around the world, and to send more relief convoys to our brothers in Gaza, Lebanon, and all the most needy and less fortunate people. This comes in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: “Help one another to righteousness and piety, and do not help each other to sin and aggression” (Quran 5:2), and with the saying of the Prophet (pbuh): “The Muslim is the brother of another Muslim; he doesn't oppress him, nor does he abandon him. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens of the Day of Judgement and whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults on the Day of Judgement.”

 

Dr. Sahar Nasr confirmed that the Zakat and Charity House, under the supervision of His Eminence the Grand Imam, seeks to provide and promote its services to reach all those in need and those entitled to them. She noted that the new building of the House will provide an opportunity to expand the provision of various services, including cash support, assistance to the needy, marriage of orphans, educational services, and other services provided by the Zakat and Charity House. She added that the design of the new building of the House took into account the preservation of the privacy of the beneficiaries of the House’s services, and receiving and hosting them properly. She noted that no donation allocated for Zakat and Charity was directed to the construction of the House, in order to preserve the money of the needy and donors and their trust, in accordance with the directives of His Eminence the Grand Imam.
