The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Sheikh Yusuf Ali Aynte, Head of the Association of Islamic Scholars in Somalia. During the meeting, Sheikh Aynte expressed his appreciation of Al-Azhar's efforts to enhance awareness of the correct teachings of Islam across the globe, according to a moderate approach, expressing Islam’s tolerance, ease and moderation. He added that Somali scholars firmly believe that Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif adopts this correct approach, and educates generations to adhere to this straight path, expressing his thanks to His Eminence the Great Imam of Al-Azhar for the scholarships he allocates to Somali students annually, and for the hospitality they receive at Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif.

The Grand Imam emphasized that Al-Azhar is keen to provide all possible aspects of support to the Somali people, pointing out that the people of Somalia studying at Al-Azhar receive all care and attention, and that Al-Azhar pays special attention to training Somali imams on ways to confront extremist thought. At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Association of Islamic Scholars in Somalia presented a special shield to the Grand Imam.
