Al-Azhar education only lifeline for the world to avoid terrorism, Ruler of Sharjah, UAE
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, member of the Federal Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, during his visit to Cairo.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan Al-Qasimi said he was looking forward to the Grand Imam’s upcoming visit to the United Arab Emirates to attend the Human Fraternity Conference with the participation of the Pope of the Vatican, stressing the importance of this event and its great impact on the future of human peace. His Highness praised Al-Azhar’s pioneering role in disseminating true Islamic thought and confronting extremism in the Arab and Muslim world, stressing the need to support Azharite education and its moderate approach, which is the only lifeline in these circumstances of violence and terrorism threatening the world.
His Eminence the Grand Imam, for his part, welcomed the Ruler of Sharjah, praising his efforts to support Arab culture and the Islamic intellectual heritage, indicating that Azharite education instills pluralism and acceptance of difference in its students. Therefore, Al-Azhar graduates are always factors of stability and peace in their countries.
His Eminence explained that Al-Azhar established the World Organization for Al-Azhar Graduates to link graduates around the world to Al-Azhar approach, follow up with them and benefit from their efforts and ideas in promoting world peace, pointing out that Al-Azhar takes care of its foreign students who possess enormous talents and capabilities that need to be developed and refined.
