Al-Azhar keen on scientific and cultural cooperation with Armenia, the Grand Imam to Ambassador of Armenia
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Karen Levoni Grigorian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt.
The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar is making great efforts to foster the values of tolerance and world peace, and working to build bridges of cooperation and understanding between different civilizations. He expressed Al-Azhar’s readiness to develop cultural and scientific cooperation with Armenia by offering some scholarships to Armenian imams and training them to deal with contemporary issues and problems.
Mr. Grigorian, for his part, said that Egypt and Armenia have historical relations that have lasted for hundreds of years, praising the efforts of Al-Azhar and the vision of the Grand Imam for the consolidation of tolerance and world peace. This vision was embodied in the provisions of the Human Fraternity Document, which was signed last February in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi. He also stressed that the message of tolerance and peace that Al-Azhar carries is a universal message shared by all religions and peoples.
