The world in dire need of interfaith centers due to growing hate speech, the Grand Imam to NNCIICD Chairman
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Mr. Altay Abibullayev, Chairman of the Nur-Sultan Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Inter-civilization Dialogue (NNCIICD) in Kazakhstan, in the presence of Ambassador Arman Isagaliev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Egypt.
The Grand Imam said that the world is now in dire need of real centers for dialogue between religions, especially in light of the growing rhetoric of hate and violence in the East, as well as the conflicts of right-wing extremism in the West, as they represent the only lifeline to save humanity from the clash of civilizations. HE expressed Al-Azhar’s readiness to cooperate with the NNCIICD, through the departments concerned with dialogue, in order to adopt a real dialogue with the other, based on establishing the principle of citizenship among all human beings.
For his part, the head of the NNCIICD praised the efforts of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in establishing the values of peace and coexistence among different cultures and civilizations. He stressed his aspiration to benefit from the efforts of His Eminence to promote dialogue between East and West, and from the expertise of Al-Azhar Dialogue Center.
