The Grand Imam receives the Australian Ambassador at Al-Azhar headquarters
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, Ambassador Glenn Miles, Ambassador of Australia to Egypt. The Grand Imam affirmed Al-Azhar’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Australia in all cultural, scientific and religious fields, in addition to receiving students, and training imams and preachers. He pointed out that Al-Azhar immunizes its international students with the correct understanding of the teachings of Islam, rejects false thought and consolidates the values of peace and coexistence. Therefore, countries are eager to send their students to this prestigious institution hoping that they will help consolidate peace and stability in their societies.
The Australian Ambassador, for his part, expressed his appreciation for the role of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif and its Grand Imam in promoting moderate thought, pointing out that Al-Azhar graduates in Australia are appreciated and respected. He affirmed his country’s endeavor to strengthen relations with Al-Azhar and benefit from its advocacy experience and its global and pivotal role in promoting dialogue and peace among the followers of different religions, hoping to increase the number of his country’s students at Al-Azhar in the future.
