Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Wednesday, at Al-Azhar headquarters Dr. Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt and the UAE Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States. During the meeting, the Grand Imam welcomed the UAE Ambassador, wishing him success during his tenure in Cairo, stressing the strength of relations between Al-Azhar and the UAE. His Eminence added that the cooperation between them has greatly contributed to confronting extremist thought, building up bridges of dialogue between the East and the West. 

Ambassador Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting Al-Azhar Grand Imam. He stressed the UAE’s appreciation of Al-Azhar and its Grand Imam, and praised the pivotal role played by His Eminence in consolidating the values of peace and human brotherhood at the regional and global levels. He also praised the Grand Imam’s role in clarifying the true image of Islam and disseminating the moderate approach of Al-Azhar.
