HFD is a guide for world peace, the Grand Imam to Belgian Ambassador
While meeting Mr. Francois Cornet Delsius, the Belgian Ambassador in Cairo, today, Wednesday, Al-Azhar Grand Imam said that the establishment of a contemporary human civilization based on the values of brotherhood, peace and coexistence requires hard work, perseverance and solidarity. His Eminence added that we all need to exert more effort to change stereotypes about the others and replace them with positive models that help establish a culture of dialogue and rapprochement. He stressed that Al-Azhar has made great strides through the Human Fraternity Document (HFD) it cosigned with the Vatican, which represents a humanitarian roadmap and a guide for world peace.
The Belgian Ambassador, for his part, expressed his pleasure at meeting the Grand Imam, conveying the greetings and appreciation of Cardinal Joseph de Kessel, Bishop of Belgium and Archbishop of Brussels, to the Grand Imam. He praised Al-Azhar’s role in confronting extremist thought with firmness in a scientific and practical contemporary manner, noting that the Embassy continuously and permanently follows up with the activities of Belgian students studying at Al-Azhar, and works to manage their affairs and overcome any obstacles they face.
