The Grand Imam receives the Tunisian President at Al-Azhar Headquarters
President Kais Saied of the Republic of Tunisia arrived at the headquarters of Al-Azhar to meet with Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb within the framework of the first official visit by the Tunisian President to Egypt. His Eminence and a high-level delegation of Al-Azhar scholars will meet the Tunisian President at Al-Azhar headquarters, where the two parties will hold a meeting dealing with ways to strengthen scientific and cultural relations between Al-Azhar and Tunisia. In the meeting, they will also discuss the importance of consolidating moderate thought, combating extremism, and preserving the Arab and Islamic identities. The Tunisian Republic and Al-Azhar have historical relations at the scientific and cultural levels. Throughout its history, Al-Azhar University has hosted prominent Tunisian scholars, the most famous of whom are Ibn Khaldun, who worked as a teacher at Al-Azhar Mosque, and Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khidr Hussein, the 41st Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, who assumed the top title of Al-Azhar in 1952.
