Patience and wisdom consolidate human fraternity, Al-Azhar Grand Imam
Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Sunday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, a delegation headed by Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, Secretary-General of the Federation of Anglican Episcopal Churches in the World. Dr. Munir Hanna, Archbishop of Alexandria for the Anglican Episcopal Church, and Dr. Sami Fawzy, the new Archbishop of Alexandria for the Anglican Episcopal Church, who takes office this Tuesday, accompanied Archbishop Fearon. The Grand Imam expressed his appreciation for Dr. Munir Hanna’s achievements during his work in the previous period and for his cooperation with Al-Azhar in the file of dialogue and tolerance. He also congratulated the new president of the bishops of the Anglican Church, adding that religious scholars play an important and effective role in the service of tolerance and coexistence among people. He said that Al-Azhar handles this file with patience, wisdom, and perseverance and makes great efforts in this regard to support world peace and consolidate human fraternity.
For their part, the delegation of bishops said they had the pleasure of meeting the Grand Imam and they had pride in His Eminence’s global efforts in the field of dialogue and human fraternity among the followers of religions. They also praised Al-Azhar enlightened approach, which is based on accepting difference and diversity. They further noted that the meetings and speeches of the Grand Imam bear witness to the strength of his statement and his position in the field of consolidating fraternity, moderation, acceptance of others, stressing that religions are innocent of terrorism, exaggeration, and extremism.
