The Grand Imam praises Thai Ambassador’s activities with his fellow citizens studying at Al-Azhar
Today, Monday, June 7, during his meeting with Mr. Puttaporn Ewtoksan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Egypt, at Al-Azhar headquarters, Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb praised the Ambassador’s interaction with his compatriots studying at Al-Azhar and the activities held by the Thai Embassy inside Al-Azhar City of Islamic Missions (students’ hostels). The Grand Imam expressed Al-Azhar’s pride in its students and graduates, adding that Al-Azhar spares no effort to support all its students.
The Thai Ambassador, for his part, thanked the Grand Imam for receiving foreign students in his office and his home in Luxor. This increases their love and pride in belonging to this institution and reflects the universality and openness of Al-Azhar. The Ambassador also discussed with Al-Azhar Grand Imam the redistribution of scholarships for Thai students over Sharia, Arabic language and scientific colleges. The Grand Imam welcomed this suggestion and said the allocation of grants is made according to the interests of the country sending its students.
