Al-Azhar Grand Imam receives the Palestinian President's advisor and confirms Palestine's status in the hearts of the Arabs and the Muslims. The Grand Imam decides to double grants for Palestinians in order to support them and equip them with science and knowledge. The Palestinian Chief Justice said that President Abbas expresses his appreciation for the Grand Imam’s efforts to support the cause. The advisor to the Palestinian President said to the Grand Imam, “We will remain defenders of our cause and our sanctities, and we will never abandon them.”

 Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received today, Tuesday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, an official Palestinian delegation headed by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Palestinian Chief Justice, and Advisor to the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations. At the beginning of the meeting, His Eminence welcomed the Palestinian delegation to his office at Al-Azhar headquarters. He expressed his appreciation for the government and people of the brotherly State of Palestine, Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Al-Aqsa Mosque. He said every Arab and every Muslim holds the Palestinian people with their land in high esteem. Moreover, every free human who believes in the rights and just cause of the Palestinian people, respects religious beliefs and sanctities, and rejects the outdated idea of occupation. 

For his part, the Palestinian President’s Advisor conveyed the Palestinian President’s heartfelt greetings and wishes of continued health and wellness to the Grand Imam. He also conveyed President Abu Mazen’s appreciation for the efforts of Al-Azhar Grand Imam in supporting the Palestinian cause. 

The Chief Justice of Palestine affirmed that Al-Azhar Grand Imam’s tweets and his strong clear statements regarding the Palestinian issue were well received and accepted by Palestine and its people, and they had a profound effect on supporting their cause because of the global standing and voice of Al-Azhar and its Grand Imam. 

The Palestinian delegation briefed the Grand Imam on the latest conditions and developments in the Palestinian arena, explaining that the Palestinian people will continue to defend their cause and guard the sanctities of the nation. The attacks of the occupation revealed by the widespread videos about the occupiers and their racism towards the people of Palestine, the owners of the land and the place, showed the world the reality of the occupation. Their provocations against the people of Palestine will be futile, and the Palestinians will remain defenders of the cause, their land, their homes, and their holy sites, never abandoning them. 

At the end of the visit, His Eminence decided to double the number of scholarships for the brotherly State of Palestine, from 50 to 100 scholarships, out of love and support for these brave people to equip them with Al-Azhar moderate approach. Al-Azhar will continue to play its role in supporting the Palestinians, enhancing awareness and equipping their students with the weapons of science and knowledge, to confront arrogance, allegations, and falsehoods. 

The Palestinian delegation also handed over a gift from President Abu Mazen, which is a special copy of the Umari Pact manuscript. The Umari Pact is a document written by the Caliph of the Muslims, ˁUmar Ibn Al-Khaṭṭāb, may God be pleased with him, to the people of Aelia (Jerusalem) when the Muslims entered it in 638 AD, where he gave them a covenant guaranteeing the safety of their churches and their properties. It is one of the most important documents in the history of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Palestine.
