Al-Azhar Academy for the Training of Imams and Preachers is one of Al-Azhar's tools to achieve the dream of world peace—Grand Imam
During his meeting with the Lithuanian Ambassador to Cairo, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, said, “Al-Azhar International Academy for the Training of Imams and Preachers is one of Al-Azhar's tools to achieve the dream of world peace. Al-Azhar hosts Muslim imams from around the world at its expense to qualify them via a program designed to suit each society”. He added, “Over the course of two continuous months, we have been receiving imams and training them to address modern problems, such as refuting the extremist thought, clarifying the Islam’s attitude towards women, and its support to the coexistence of Muslims with others. We insist that these imams go to the Egyptian streets to see for themselves this coexistence between the Muslims and the Christian so that they may return to their home countries armed with an enlightened moderate thought, and hence spread what they have learned, not only among the Muslims, but among all members of their societies through their daily dealings with them.
Mr Arturas Jayliunas, Ambassador of Lithuania to Cairo, expressed his pleasure for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and his appreciation for the efforts he exerted to enhance world peace, and his aspiration that Al-Azhar will send its imams to the Lithuanian community, noting that Lithuania will benefit from the programs of Al-Azhar International Academy for the Training of Imams and Preachers. He also affirmed that religions have kept the unity of the Lithuanian society for centuries and that the Muslims and the Christians live in peace and harmony in Lithuania.
