At his residence in Holy Mecca, where he was performing ˁUmrah, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received His Excellency Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul-Karim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Issa welcomed the Grand Imam to Holy Mecca, expressing the KSA’s and the entire Muslim world’s appreciation of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, and of his efforts to promote peace and coexistence in the whole world. Dr. Al-Issa expressed the Muslim World League's aspiration for more cooperation with Al-Azhar in confronting extremist ideology and redressing misconceptions. 

For his part, the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation of the KSA’s leadership, government and people, and his support for the role of the Muslim World League in serving Islam and the Muslims. He also praised the sincere efforts made by Dr. Al-Issa in advancing the league’s work and promoting its activity at all levels. Visiting Holy Mecca to perform ˁUmrah, the Grand Imam was received at Jedda Airport by Dr. Al-Issa and a number of scholars of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic affairs.
