Mauritanian Ambassador requests Al-Azhar GI to increase Azhari scholarships for to Mauritanian youth
Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, at Al-Azhar HQ, HE El Houssein Sidi Abdoullah Dieh, the Mauritanian Ambassador to Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance Al-Azhar support for the people of Mauritania.
His Eminence the Grand Imam stressed the depth of the relations between Al-Azhar and Mauritania, pointing to Mauritania's role in spreading Arabic culture and sciences. He stressed that Al-Azhar does not hesitate to provide all forms of support to the Mauritanian people, pointing out that Al-Azhar hosts hundreds of Mauritanian students studying at various educational levels, from kindergarten to postgraduate studies, and Al-Azhar allocates 35 annual scholarships for the youth of Mauritania to join Al-Azhar University.
The Mauritanian Ambassador, for his part, expressed his happiness for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and his appreciation for his role in supporting the Mauritanian people. He also asked him to increase the number of scholarships allocated by Al-Azhar for the youth of Mauritania to join Al-Azhar University, especially in applied science colleges such as medicine, pharmacy and science, in a manner that is consistent with social challenges and meets the urgent needs of Mauritanian society.
