We seek to enhance the presence of Al-Azhar scholars in our country to establish the moderate approach and protect our youth from the dangers of polarization, President of Djibouti National Assembly
Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI) and MCE Chairman, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received today, Wednesday, at Al-Azhar HQ, Mr. Dileita Mohamed Dileita, President of Djibouti National Assembly, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the scientific and dawah fields.
His Eminence the Grand Imam welcomed Mr. Dileita to Al-Azhar, stressing the depth of the relations between Egypt and Djibouti, which have continued for thousands of years. Al-Azhar has played an important role in the development of this relationship, by receiving Djiboutian students coming to study in Egypt. He pointed out Al-Azhar’s interest in providing its educational services to the people of Djibouti, through Al-Azhar's Wasatiya Institute located in the heart of the Djiboutian capital, which includes 9 professors from Al-Azhar's scholars, and Al-Azhar’s readiness establish more institutes in Djibouti similar to the Wasatiya Institute, and to establish a center for teaching the Arabic language to enhance Djibouti’s orientation towards adhering to the language of the Holy Quran.
His Eminence affirmed Al-Azhar’s readiness to host Djibouti’s imams at Al-Azhar Academy for Training Imams, Preachers and Fatwa Researchers, enhance their skills in refuting the ideas of extremist groups, enhance their understanding of the issues of coexistence and acceptance of others, and reshape the correct awareness among Djibouti’s Muslims.
The President of Djibouti National Assembly expressed his happiness at meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and his appreciation for Al-Azhar’s keenness to support the Djiboutian people in the fields of science and dawah, stating: “We found our desired goal in Al-Azhar Al-Sharif through the Wasatiya Institute, which has enlightened the entire region, not just Djibouti. We seek to enhance the presence of Al-Azhar scholars in our country to promote the moderate approach, protect our youth from the dangers of polarization, and immunize them against extremist ideas.”
Mr. Dileita also thanked the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for the proposal to establish an institute and a school for teaching the Arabic language, stressing that this center will support the Djiboutian trend in consolidating the Arabic-speaking educational trend in the face of the French-speaking trend, and the country’s trend to deepen interest in the Arabic language and use it in various fields of government work.
