Al-Azhar Grand Imam receives Saudi Ambassador to Egypt, praises Kingdom’s Hajj efforts
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb received today, Tuesday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, His Excellency Saleh bin Eid Al-Hussaini, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.
His Eminence the Grand Imam expressed his sincere appreciation for the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in serving the pilgrims of the Sacred Mosque of Mecca (Masjid al-Haram) and supporting the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations. The Grand Imam asked Allah that the Kingdom’s efforts be crowned with success in arranging this year’s Hajj season, noting that serving the pilgrims of Masjid al-Haram is a great honor, and that the Kingdom’s efforts in this regard are worthy of great respect and appreciation.
The Saudi Ambassador, for his part, expressed his delight at meeting the Grand Imam and his appreciation for the great efforts he makes in serving Islam and Muslims. He emphasized the depth of the relations that unite the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with Al-Azhar and its scholars. He praised the global role that Al-Azhar plays in spreading the values of moderation and tolerance and promoting a culture of dialogue and coexistence among peoples. He affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to continue cooperation with Al-Azhar in various scientific, dawah and cultural fields, in a way that contributes to serving the issues of the Islamic nation and enhancing its stability.
