The Grand Imam receives new Secretary General of Muslim Council of Elders
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Sultan Al Rumaithi, the new Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE).
The Grand Imam congratulated Dr. Al-Rumaithi on assuming his new position, wishing him success in his mission, and the completion of the important successes achieved by the Muslim Council of Elders despite its short span of life, which made the MCE present in the dialogue rounds between the East and the West. In addition, the MCE has launched and supported many conferences and initiatives that aimed at promoting the values of dialogue, peace and coexistence.
His Eminence pointed out that the enormous challenges facing the Muslim nation and the world at large require the MCE to increase its activities and launch them to new horizons, in addition to consolidating and deepening the initiatives and activities launched, in order to achieve the desired benefit anticipated from them.
Dr. Al-Rumaithi, for his part, expressed his thanks to His Eminence the Grand Imam for the trust he placed in him by assigning him Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders. He expressed his pleasure at joining the MCE’s team, and his determination to be guided by the directives of the Grand Imam in order to advance the work of the MCE and achieve its goals in supporting peace and stability in Muslim societies.
Al-Rumaithi indicated that he will invest in the success achieved by the MCE in the past years, and build on it in order to achieve its hopes. He vowed to achieve optimal investment in the MCE’s relations and capabilities, and to participate actively in initiatives and activities related to the MCE’s objectives, especially with regard to promoting peace, dialogue and coexistence.
