Malaysian PM's envoy hands Al-Azhar Grand Imam an invitation to visit his country
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, received Dr. Mujahid Yusof, the Minister of Religious Affairs and the Malaysian Prime Minister's envoy, who handed His Eminence an official invitation from the Malaysian Prime Minister to visit Malaysia.
Dr. Yusof praised the efforts of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and its Grand Imam to promote moderate thought, stressing that Al-Azhar approach is far from extremism and fanaticism. He expressed his country's wish to enhance cooperation with Al-Azhar, especially to increase the number of Islamic preachers sent to Malaysia for their important role in disseminating Al-Azhar approach and teaching the Arabic language.
The Grand Imam said that Al-Azhar undertakes the responsibility to clarify and spread the message of goodness and peace that Islam and its noble Sharia carry to the whole world. Therefore, Al-Azhar pays full attention to international students, because they represent its ambassadors to the world, promoting its enlightened, moderate thought, and contributing sincerely to the advancement of their societies.
His Eminence stressed the need to follow the Sharia and adhere to its purposes and spirit in a manner that is commensurate with the modern era, and to not waste time and opportunities in conflict and disagreement, stressing Al-Azhar's readiness for further cooperation with Malaysia.
