Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Sudanese Higher Education Minister discuss strengthening mutual cooperation
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb received today, Tuesday, Dr. Ahmed Mudawi, Sudanese Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the scientific and research fields.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Grand Imam expressed his sincere condolences to the brotherly Sudanese people for the victims of the terrorist attack on a mosque near the Abu Shouk camp for internally displaced people in Al Fasher, North Darfur, which claimed the lives of dozens of martyrs and injured many. He prayed to Allah Almighty to show the victims His infinite mercy and grant the injured a speedy recovery. He stressed that the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples are bound by strong historical relations that are both unique and deep. His Eminence added that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is keen to provide full support to our brothers in Sudan in all fields of dawah, education and research, praying to Allah Almighty to end Sudan's ordeal as soon as possible and to bless it with peace and security.
The Sudanese Minister of Higher Education thanked His Eminence for his care for his Sudanese students studying at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and for providing them with constant support and finding urgent solutions to all the problems they face. He stressed that the Sudanese people carry in their hearts a special love for His Eminence and for Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and that Al-Azhar graduates in Sudan enjoy good reputation and a prestigious position among their peers, and they are making great efforts to promote social peace.
