Al-Azhar Grand Imam offers his condolences on passing of Prof. Ahmed Omar Hashem and consoles his family
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, offered his condolences this Wednesday evening on the death of the eminent scholar, Professor Ahmed Omar Hashem, member of the Council of Senior Scholars of Al-Azhar, former President of Al-Azhar University, at the condolence gathering at the Police Mosque in the Fifth Settlement in Cairo, in the presence of a number of Al-Azhar scholars and leaders, and a number of ministers, officials and dignitaries.
His Eminence the Grand Imam was keen to console the sons of the deceased scholar and his family, expressing his sincere condolences and sympathy for the passing of one of the great and authentic Azharite scholars, who enriched scientific and dawah life with their knowledge and eloquence. His Eminence added that the deceased was a role model in serving knowledge and calling to Allah with wisdom and good counsel, and serving the Prophetic Hadith, spreading it and explaining it to students of knowledge and people everywhere. He also lived defending the issues of his nation with a sweet and eloquent tongue that reflected Al-Azhar’s moderate approach.
His Eminence offered his condolences to the Egyptian people and the Arab and Islamic nation on the death of one of the great scholars of Al-Azhar, who filled the world with his knowledge and work, and contributed to spreading the true religion and defending the moderation and tolerance of Islam. He stressed that the biography and life of Prof. Ahmed Omar Hashem will remain present in the memory of Al-Azhar and its scientific and human history, because of the scientific and dawah contributions he made, the impact of which will remain in scientific libraries and among researchers and students of knowledge in Egypt and the Islamic world.
