His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE), Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, at Al-Azhar headquarters, Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, the new UAE Ambassador to Egypt, wishing him every success in carrying out his duties in his second home, Egypt.

 

 

 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Grand Imam affirmed the depth of the relations that bind Al-Azhar to the United Arab Emirates, its wise leadership and its brotherly people. He stressed his pride in the relationship that binds him to his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has spared no effort in supporting the message of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and his efforts with Al-Azhar have contributed to launching many global humanitarian and cultural projects and initiatives. His Eminence praised the approach of the UAE in promoting the values of brotherhood and the culture of positive coexistence, and its relief and humanitarian support for the oppressed Palestinian people. He added that this approach is an extension of the approach of the founding father of the UAE, the late wise man, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Allah have mercy on him and bless his soul.

 

Al Zaabi expressed his overwhelming happiness at meeting His Eminence, and his country’s appreciation for His Eminence’s great efforts in spreading the true religion and promoting a culture of tolerance and human fraternity. He emphasized his happiness at assuming the duties of the UAE Ambassador to Egypt, the country which is dear to the hearts of the Emirati people. He expressed his hope that he will be a bridge to strengthen relations that have always been characterized by interdependence and cohesion. He affirmed that he would strive to strengthen the Emirati-Azhari ties and will closely follow the development of joint initiatives with Al-Azhar, and the efforts of cooperation to achieve good.
