Accepting Allah's will, His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb mourns the passing of Sheikh Ali Abdel-Baqi, former Secretary-General of Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy (AIRA), who passed away today, Friday, after a life dedicated to serving Islam and dawah. Al-Azhar affirms that the deceased was a steadfast advocate for Al-Azhar's message, its moderate approach, and its tolerant values. He combined profound knowledge with noble character, devoting his life to serving his faith, his country, and Al-Azhar.

As the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar mourns his loss, he extends his deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, praying to Almighty Allah to forgive him, show him His infinite mercy, to admit him to His spacious Paradise, and to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace. “Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
