His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb received a telephone call from His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church, to congratulate him on the occasion of the approaching Eid Al-Adha.  He prayed to Allah Almighty that this blessed occasion bring security, goodness and stability to Egypt and its people, and that the spirit of love and brotherhood remain firmly established among all the sons of the nation.

Pope Tawadros II expressed his appreciation for the national and humanitarian role played by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, under the leadership of His Eminence the Grand Imam, in consolidating the values of peace and tolerance, spreading the culture of dialogue and understanding, and promoting the values of citizenship and positive coexistence among the members of Egyptian society.

For his part, the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation for this kind congratulation. He stressed that religious holidays represent a renewed opportunity to strengthen the bonds of love and national cohesion, and to consolidate the common human values that call for cooperation and solidarity for the good of our country.

The Grand Imam and the Pope also praised the efforts and initiatives of the “Egyptian Family House,” which embodies a leading national model in supporting social peace, confronting intolerance and hatred, and preserving the national fabric.
