Al-Azhar Grand Imam thanks families of victims of the “Bani Muhammadiyat” incident for accepting reconciliation, upholding social peace
His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, extends his sincere thanks and appreciation to the families of the victims of the "Bani Muhammadiyat" incident in the Abnub city, Assiut Governorate. He commends their noble stance in accepting reconciliation and prioritizing the greater good, as well as the high moral character they demonstrated in managing the incident’s aftermath and preserving social harmony. He emphasizes that such actions embody lofty human values and religious teachings that advocate for forgiveness, reconciliation, and compassion among people, while reflecting the authentic spirit of Upper Egyptians and their commitment to the security and stability of society.
His Eminence also expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the Christian family of the late Shahir Karam Shaker for their noble decision to grant forgiveness and accept reconciliation, as well as to the Muslim families who chose forgiveness and prioritized the voice of wisdom: the family of the late Omar Abdel-Azim Hassan of the Ammar family, the family of the late Hanan Mansour Abdel-Aal of Abdel-Mawla family, and the family of the late Mansour Ashraf Khalaf of Awlad Al-Sheikh family.
The Grand Imam extends his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims, affirming that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif stands by their side during this painful ordeal and shares in their grief and sorrow. He prays to Allah Almighty—Exalted be He—to shower the victims with His vast mercy, grant them a place in His spacious Paradise, and bestow patience and solace upon their families and loved ones.
His Eminence calls upon all families of Upper Egypt to emulate these exemplary models, to renounce the abhorrent practice of blood feuds—which brings further bloodshed and sorrow—and to uphold the values of pardon and forgiveness advocated by divine religions. He urges them to resort to the rule of law and prioritize reason and wisdom, in order to preserve lives and safeguard the security and stability of society.
