His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States.  In a post on his official social media pages, he wrote: “Al-Azhar Al-Sharif welcomes the ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America. We pray to Allah Almighty that this step marks a genuine beginning for lasting stability and a decisive end to the wars and conflicts that have exhausted the peoples of the region and the world, harmed the global economy, and burdened it with poverty, fear, and tension.”

 

 

 

His Eminence added: “Al-Azhar Al-Sharif reiterates the well-known fact that wars affect everyone, leaving behind nothing but further bloodshed, destruction, and chaos; and that dialogue, mutual understanding, and respect for state sovereignty constitute the only path to resolving conflicts and achieving security and peace, as well as the optimal route to stability, development, and prosperity.”
