The Grand Imam to Top Al-Azhar Secondary Students: Your excellence is a trust; you bear the responsibility of sustaining success and serving your homeland and faith

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received the top-ranking students of the Al-Azhar secondary certificate examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year at his office in the Al-Azhar headquarters. He honored them in recognition of their academic excellence and distinction, emphasizing that true excellence is not measured by grades alone, but by beneficial knowledge, noble character, and the capacity to shoulder responsibility. 

The Grand Imam awarded each of the top students a financial prize of 100,000 EGP and an Umrah trip. This gesture served to acknowledge their excellence and encourage them to continue their academic journey. He affirmed that their achievements were the fruit of hard work, diligence, and patience. He urged them to consider their excellence a new phase of contribution, to utilize the knowledge they have acquired in the service of their faith, homeland, and nation, and to uphold their moral values; for Al-Azhar Al-Sharif aspires to graduate individuals who combine knowledge with ethics and carry a message that benefits humanity.

His Eminence also extended his gratitude to the students’ families, praising the role they played in nurturing and supporting their children and in creating an environment conducive to their academic achievement and excellence. He emphasized that the family is a fundamental partner in a child’s success and called upon parents to continue their support during the university stage, helping the students harness their capabilities to build their futures and serve their homeland and nation. 

The top-ranking students expressed their happiness at meeting His Eminence and receiving this honor, affirming that the recognition serves as an incentive to maintain their academic excellence throughout their university studies. They also expressed appreciation for the care and support Al-Azhar provides to its students, voiced pride in their affiliation with the institution, and pledged to continue their academic journey in a way that contributes to serving their religion, homeland, and nation.
