The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, averred that the Saudi Arabian decision to set a limit to the numbers of pilgrims, of Saudi nationals and residents inside the Kingdom, this year, is a right and wise move that considers the public interest and the preservation of pilgrims’ rights without suspending the ritual, given the continuing repercussions of COVID-19 and its disturbing mutations. He affirmed that Al-Azhar appreciates the Kingdom’s keen interest in the safety of pilgrims and the prevalence of legal Islamic objectives, on top of which comes the preservation of life, practiced in the light of COVID-19 repercussions. He also applauded the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and the Crown Prince and the brotherly Saudi people for their efforts in serving the pilgrims and ensuring their safety.
His Eminence the Grand Imam prayed for success of the Arab and Muslim rulers in saving people’s lives, asking Allah Almighty to lift the affliction and to spare our world and humanity all harm and evil.
