Grand Imam congratulates Al-Azhar Enactus team on ranking first in Enactus World Cup
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, congratulated Al-Azhar University Enactus team that ranked first in Enactus World Cup 2020 for Business entrepreneurship and community projects, representing Egypt, outrunning students from 32 prestigious world universities.
“I sincerely congratulate my sons and daughters from among Al-Azhar University students, for winning Enactus World Cup competition for entrepreneurship and community projects. I pray to Allah to help them adapt science to the service of their country and of humanity.” This is the first time Al-Azhar Enactus team participates in Enactus World Cup for Entrepreneurship, after winning the local competition, outperforming teams from more than 56 public and private Egyptian universities, and thus qualifying to represent Egypt globally. Al-Azhar team won the title through outperforming teams from Canada, America, Germany, China and many other countries, adding up to 32 teams representing the most prestigious international universities. The Enactus Al-Azhar project, which was implemented by more than 106 Azharite students, aims to find innovative ways to transform unused shrimp shells in Shakshuk village, Fayyoum Governorate, to produce five main products (spices, organic fertilizers, medical masks, shrimp farms, organic filters) besides purifying the lake. The produced masks were used to protect more than 1,500 doctors. The team also offered more than 800 women in the village permanent job opportunities following on a set of research and development processes. The project also involved reducing the unemployment rate in the village, raising family income by 320%, and minimizing dropout rate for more than 1,300 students in various educational stages.
