His Eminence Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, congratulates Mr. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the entire Muslim nation around the world on the new Hijri Year, asking Allah Almighty to make it a year of blessings, welfare, security and safety. In this regard, Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif stresses that the blessed Prophetic Hijrah (Migration) has always been a milestone in Islamic History, the life of our Prophet (pbuh) and the entire history of the Islamic missionary, since it instructs the Muslims to follow the example of their Prophet (pbuh) in entrusting affairs to Allah Almighty, enduring hardship in the cause of disseminating the call for Divine monotheism, and offering the best example for peaceful co-existence with non-Muslims. In the same vein, Al-Azhar states that Hijrah showcased the value of homeland in Islam, the necessity of employing the lawful worldly means and the merit of the Companions of the Messenger (pbuh), migrants and supporters alike. Al-Azhar also calls upon Muslims around the world to carefully derive lessons from this blessed occasion, to do their best for the elevation of this upright faith, and to keenly translate the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) into action as conclusive evidence of the greatness of this religion and the high status of that Prophet (pbuh) sent by Allah as mercy to humankind.
