The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb gifted President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, with a unique copy of Al-Azhar Muṣḥaf (Qur’an Codex), during the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday anniversary at Al-Manarah Center for International Conferences, in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo. 

The work on the Muṣḥaf ,which continued for nearly twenty years; geometric decorations, inspired by a precious Qur’anic manuscript of the Ilkhanate and Mamluk eras, were invested. The colors were even imitated in gilding and ornamenting. This codex was printed on the finest paper made of acid-free pure cotton to preserve the splendor of the gold and the colors for long.

The Muṣḥaf cover is made of pure natural vegetable tanned leather, with recessed thermal engraving, including coloring and gilding, in imitation of Mamluk geometric patterns.

This Noble Muṣḥaf was typeset in King Fuad’s handwriting as automatically rebuilt through a special computer software and with the help of calligraphers dexterous in Naskh script. It is also based on the rules of calligrapher Muhammad Jaˁfar Bek (d. 1916), who set the script rule for the Amiri (Royal) Press, which represents the most creative calligraphic ruler in the Muslim world, embodied in the production of a superb authentic  Muṣḥaf printed in movable metal letters in the Survey Authority in 1342 AH (1924).
