Grand Imam: Al-Azhar is keen to keep abreast with modern technology, especially in education

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb received Dr. Johansen Eid, President of the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), in the presence of Prof. Muhammad Ad-Dhawini, Deputy of the Grand Imam, and Dr. Rajia Mahmoud Taha, NAQAAE Vice President to ensure the quality of education and accreditation and discuss ways of promoting the quality systems of education at Al-Azhar.
The Grand Imam averred: “Al-Azhar is keen to keep abreast with modern technology, especially in the field of education in order to graduate students capable of facing contemporary challenges”. He stressed that Al-Azhar is doing its best to develop the education system in the university and the institutes and to meet the NAQAAE requirements.
For her part, Dr. Johansen Eid confirmed that education at Al-Azhar witnessed remarkable development and an unprecedented boom over the past 7 years, as 788 institutes and 24 colleges (14 religious colleges and 10 secular colleges) were accredited, placing Al-Azhar University at the forefront of the Egyptian universities in terms of the number of accredited colleges. Likewise, 8 academic programs were accredited.
The NAQAAE President briefed the Grand Imam on Egypt’s 2030 vision on education development, noting that Al-Azhar institutes are an integral part of the Egyptian education system, representing 17% of the total Egyptian pre-university education institutions, where one-third of Egyptian students are enrolled. According to Eid, the 100% of Al-Azhar institutions applying to NAQAAE have been accredited in a way that confirms Al-Azhar’s readiness and seriousness of the steps taken to develop its education. She added that the current year’s target is to accredit 750 Azharite institutes.
