Today, Sunday, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb received Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hadi, Head of the General Syndicate of the Egyptian Writers Union, and his accompanying delegation. The Grand Imam averred: “Al-Azhar values all scientific and cultural entities because of their important role in raising awareness and spreading useful knowledge among people. He further maintained the need to find a mechanism for coordination and cooperation between these entities towards an optimal performance of its scientific and educational mission as this would raise conscious young generations capable of dealing with contemporary challenges and addressing campaigns of identity alienation and dispossession in our Arab and Muslim world. 

For his part, Dr. Abdel-Hadi expressed his appreciation for the role Al-Azhar and its Grand Imam play in disseminating the values of dialogue and tolerance and in promoting Islamic thought. He also pointed out that the Egyptian Writers Union is a great supporter of Al-Azhar and the Grand Imam in confronting all malicious campaigns that seek to undermine our moral values and the principles of our upright religion.
