Grand Imam of Al-Azhar mourns the eminent scholar, Muhammad Kamal Imam, “We have lost a luminary scholar of Islamic law”
In constant contentment with the Will of Allah, Al-Azhar and the Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, mourn the distinguished scholar, Prof. Muhammad Kamal Imam, former Head of the Islamic Sharia Department at the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, who passed away Thursday evening at the age of 74. The Grand Imam asserts that the late scholar spared no effort in serving Islam and Muslims and left a great legacy in the field of Islamic jurisprudence. With his death, “we lost one of the luminary scholars of Islamic law in the present era. His writings - especially in the field of the higher objectives of Sharia - will remain a primary reference for students of Sharia and Islamic studies around the world. As the Grand Imam expresses his sadness and pain at the passing away of the eminent scholar, he extends sincere condolences to the family of the late Prof. Imam and his disciples and fans, asking Allah Almighty to bless him with ample mercy, to dwell him in vast gardens of Paradise, and to lend his family and relatives patience and solace; “Surely, we belong to Allah and unto Him we shall return".
