Grand Imam’s messages on the World Arabic Language Day: Salute to every Arabic language teacher and specialist
The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, commemorates the World Arabic Language Day, which falls on the 18th of December of each year, with a post on his Facebook and Twitter accounts in which he salutes every Arab father and Arab mother and every Arabic language teacher and specialist. His Eminence also called on the Arabs to protect their language, and to take pride in this language that Allah has chosen as a medium to convey his last message to all people. He stressed that the Arabic language is the master of all world languages, and that it is a marker of identity and survival for the Arabs and the Muslims. The tweet reads as follows, “I salute every Arab father and Arab mother, and every Arabic language teacher and specialist. I call on them all to protect their Arabic language. We, the Arabs, should take pride and a sense of glory in this language chosen by Allah as a carrier of His Final Message to the entire humanity, and as the master of all world languages. Know that the issue of the Arabic language is a matter of identity and survival for the Arabs and the Muslims.”
The World Arabic Language Day is celebrated on December 18th of each year, as it is the day on which the United Nations General Assembly issued a resolution adopting Arabic as one of the official languages globally recognized. Since its founding, Al-Azhar has enjoyed the honor of caring for the Arabic language and keenly teaching it to Arabs and non-Arabs. So, Al-Azhar scholars and Sheikhs teach this language to Egyptian and international Azharite students, knowing that an Arabic language college is established to teach the different disciplines and sciences of the language, in addition to Arabic language centers that teach Arabic to non-native speakers and the missions dispatched by Al-Azhar to other world countries to disseminate this long-standing language.
