His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, mourned the passing of Dr. Mahmoud Raafat Abdel Fattah Qandil, Professor of Psychiatry and Neurological Diseases, and former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University. 

The Grand Imam extended his sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the late deceased, stressing that he was an exemplary person of good manners and vast knowledge. He prayed to Allah Almighty to forgive the deceased, show him His infinite mercy, place him in His paradise, and grant his family and relatives in Cairo and Beni Suef patience and solace. “Indeed, we belong to Allah and To Him we shall return.”
