Al-Azhar Grand Imam thanks Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Pope Francis for their efforts in supporting the path of human brotherhood
Al-Azhar Grand Imam calls for an end to the wars and conflicts in Gaza and Sudan on the International Day of Human Fraternity
Al-Azhar Grand Imam confirms that the wars and conflicts that our contemporary civilization is suffering from require us to continue working to save the vulnerable and children
Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, said that as we commemorate today the fifth anniversary of the birth of the Human Fraternity Document (HFD), we affirm that our world today has never been in dire need of reviving the high moral principles contained in this document as it is today. The first and most important of these moral principles is the serious call to stop the wars and conflicts that are raging non-stop in the Middle East, especially those raging on the land of Gaza in Palestine, on the land of Sudan, in the Red Sea, and in other burning countries around the world.
During his recorded speech presented at the Council of Human Fraternity, which is being held for the first time to coincide with the International Day of Human Fraternity, Al-Azhar Grand Imam added that it is extremely unfortunate that the fifth anniversary of this historical document coincides with the conflicts and wars that our contemporary civilization is suffering from today, which places all of us before a great responsibility, for which Allah will hold us accountable on the day we meet Him. This necessitates continuing our work in order to save our fellow vulnerable brothers, sisters, and children, whose blood is being shed, and whose lives are being claimed mercilessly, day and night.
His Eminence extended his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, patron of the Human Fraternity Document, its supporter since its birth, and the one whose permanent, generous care enables it to discover the humanitarian elites who work in silence, sincerity, and impartiality, and in deference to Allah Almighty. Their work is dedicated for the human conscience, for the love of goodness and those who do it. Despite operating away from the spotlight, their fine humanitarian services are provided to the poor, tortured and distressed humans in various parts of the earth, regardless of their different races, religions, tastes and orientations.
The Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders also thanked His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, saying: I am pleased to share with you today the commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Human Fraternity Document, which we signed together on the fourth of February 2019 AD on the good land of Abu Dhabi, and since that date, the East the West bear witness to your constant sincerity in sponsoring this document, and your continued praiseworthy endeavor to support the poor and needy, support the oppressed and persecuted, and spread the spirit of brotherhood and peace among all.
