GI: Schizophrenia has afflicted some regimes that extend one hand with aid to the Palestinians and the other with weapons to the Zionist entity

GI: The tragedy in Gaza is a historical one

GI: Never have I seen greater brutality and barbarism than that practiced by this immoral entity

His Eminence, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), received Rev. Andrea Zaki, president of the Evangelical Community of Egypt, accompanied by a high-level delegation of leaders of the Egyptian Evangelical Church, to congratulate His Eminence on Eid Al-Fitr, in the presence of a high-ranking group of Al-Azhar leaders.

Rev. Zaki said: “We are pleased and honored to extend our congratulations to Your Eminence and our Muslim brothers on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing that these joyful occasions be returned to all of us, Christians and Muslims alike, with goodness and love. We are proud of the relationship that binds us to your Eminence and appreciate your great role in supporting citizenship and coexistence. The meetings that bring us together are filled with comfort, love, and appreciation and we are proud of the relationship of friendship and love that links us with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.”

For his part, His Eminence welcomed the delegation of the Evangelical Church, declaring: “We welcome you to Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and we thank you for your kind feelings. We are pleased with these visits and meetings in which we exchange congratulations on holidays and occasions, which confirm the cohesion of Egyptians, Muslims and Christians, in one national fabric.” He added: "However, the brutal aggression our Palestinian brothers in Gaza have been suffering from for nearly 6 months, makes us feel great pain which has dissipated all signs of joy in Eid. Our hearts are almost breaking with what is happening to children, women, the elderly, and youth in Gaza. The reality of the Gaza tragedy is a historical and humanitarian tragedy. I have never seen greater brutality and barbarism in my life than what this entity, which is devoid of all meanings of humanity and morality, has committed against our innocent brothers in the Gaza Strip.”

His Eminence the Grand Imam expressed his astonishment at the phenomenon of global schizophrenia that afflicted some of the major world powers, which supply food and aid with one hand to the Palestinians, while the other hand extends weapons to the Zionist entity in a scene that indicates an unprecedented paradox and schizophrenia the likes of which we have never seen before. He pointed out that the unfolding scene indicates that the current aggression against Gaza is not only committed by Israel. There are some countries playing pivotal roles that are not limited to supporting the Zionist entity with words or statements, but extends to support with weapons and equipment, and this support is directed for Zionist terrorism and encourages it to commit more crimes and massacres. He stressed that history will not have mercy on anyone who supports this terrorism and will remember them in terms of shame and disgrace.
