The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Egypt, Dr. Khan Bolocho, delivered an invitation from President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to the Grand Imam, to visit the country next November and participate in the United Nations Climate Summit COP29, held in the capital, Baku. The upcoming summit will feature symbols of different religions and religious institutions to discuss climate change, and ways to enhance cooperation with Al-Azhar in the field of interfaith dialogue, and to benefit from its extensive experience in this regard.

 

The Grand Imam welcomed the invitation, sending his greetings to Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and his appreciation to His Excellency. His Eminence expressed his aspiration to participate in this important summit. He hopes that it will have serious discussions on the climate change crisis, lead to strong decisions that are binding for the major economic powers, and be fair to developing countries that are affected the most by the negative effects of this dangerous crisis.
