Grand Imam urges global leaders to heed calls of peoples rejecting Zionist crimes

GI: If demonstrations supporting Palestinian cause in America and the West are not contained wisely, unpredictable outcomes may result

Progress in the weapons industry does not produce civilization

I call on global decision makers to learn humanity from their nations

His Eminence the Grand Imam (GI) said that the world has been struck by what can be called “global schizophrenia,” and this phenomenon has clearly emerged after the outbreak of the Zionist aggression on Gaza. Some countries announce that they will provide humanitarian aid to Gaza while extending weapons and military equipment to the Zionist entity, hence enabling it to continue with its terrorism and attrocities. His Eminence stressed that progress in the arms industry does not produce civilization.

During his meeting with Ms. Anne Dorte Riggelsen, the Danish Ambassador to Egypt, at Al-Azhar's headquarters, the Grand Imam added that global decision-makers have to exercise wisdom and reason, and listen to the will of the people who came out rejecting the terrorist crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza. He stressed that if today’s demonstrations that we see in most European and American capitals, are not contained as soon as possible, and listened to wisely and rationally, it is impossible to predict what they might lead to. He added that the West and America are required to learn the lesson and be certain that the policies of exclusion, monopoly, support of the occupation, and closed ears will cost them greatly. His Eminence called on Western decision makers to learn humanity from their people whom we appreciate, and we appreciate their role in supporting Palestinian rights.

Ms. Riggelsen, for her part, expressed her happiness for meeting His Eminence, noting that her country had taken several steps to support the Palestinian right, and that Denmark had voted in favor of Palestine in the draft resolution regarding its eligibility for full membership in the United Nations. She also pointed out that Denmark had opened a field hospital in Gaza last week.
