The Grand Imam (GI) of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE), Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, will embark on a new foreign tour to Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, early next month, in response to a number of official invitations from the three countries. His Eminence will discuss ways of cooperation, strengthening the role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, helping those countries to benefit from its vast expertise, and spreading its dawah and educational services there.

 

The Grand Imam is scheduled to meet religious, cultural and community officials and leaders in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. His Eminence is also keen to hold meetings with university students and young people, to discuss the most prominent emerging issues on the religious and social scene, and to meet with imams, preachers, muftis and those in charge of dawah and fatwa institutions.
