Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, welcomed the ministerial decision issued by Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Vocational Education, regarding the teaching of the Arabic language, religious education and history to students of international and foreign schools in Egypt. He stressed that this courageous decision is an inevitable step towards moving in the right direction towards strengthening the Egyptian, Arab and religious identity among our children, and creating generations that are proud of their Arabic language and the values of their religion. He added that this step will have a positive impact on the moral structure within Egyptian society over the upcoming years.

The Grand Imam encourages every official in the Arab and Islamic nation to take serious measures and influential decisions to advance the system of values and ethics, in order to restore the identity and fill the cultural, media, and educational void created by cultures and tools alien to our societies. This enhances a sense of belonging to the homeland and the nation in our youth, and instills in them the confidence and the ability to confront the Western cultural invasion that seeks to isolate our youth from the reality of their homelands and the future of their nations.
