His Eminence the Grand Imam (GI) of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad al-Tayyeb, received today, Thursday, Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser bin Musalam Al Rahbi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Egypt, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation.

His Eminence the Grand Imam stressed the depth of relations between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Oman, and his appreciation for the cooperation in the fields of dawah and education. He praised the role of the Sultanate of Oman in supporting the issues of the Arab and Islamic nations.

His Eminence stressed that the Arab and Islamic world is going through difficult times that require solidarity more than ever before. He added that Al-Azhar pays great attention to uniting the nation, and that this comes at the forefront of its priorities, and it is doing its utmost to raise awareness of the contemporary issues of the nation, foremost among which are the Palestinian cause and the aggression on Gaza and Lebanon.

The Omani Ambassador, for his part, expressed his great appreciation for the Grand Imam and the role of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in spreading the true religion of Islam, and his country’s appreciation for Al-Azhar’s positions in supporting Islamic and Arab issues, foremost among which is the Palestinian issue. He stressed that Al-Azhar has a major and important role in light of the contemporary challenges and dangers surrounding our Arab and Islamic world.
