Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI) and MCE Chairman, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, sent a letter of condolences to His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church, in which he expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy on the death of Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, Head of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar stressed that Cardinal Miguel Ayuso was an exemplary model of sincere work for humanity, and he is remembered for his efforts in strengthening relations with Muslims in general and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the MCE in particular, and his prominent role in spreading and promoting the Human Fraternity Document.
