Al-Azhar GI receives Malaysian Ambassador to follow up on implementation of cooperation protocols

Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI) and MCE Chairman, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received HE Ambassador Mohamed Tarid Sofian, Malaysian Ambassador to Cairo, to follow up on the implementation of the cooperation protocols that were agreed upon with Dr. Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysian Prime Minister, during his visit to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar earlier this month.

His Eminence the Grand Imam stressed the special nature of the historical relationship between Al-Azhar and Malaysia, which has developed significantly over the past period through mutual visits. He stressed his appreciation for the vision of Mr. Anwar Ibrahim, the Malaysian Prime Minister, through which he seeks to enhance the exchange of common experiences between the Muslim countries in various fields in a way that serves the progress of the Islamic world and occupying an appropriate position in the new world order.

The Malaysian Ambassador expressed his happiness for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and his appreciation for his great efforts in supporting the causes of Islam and Muslims around the world. Sofian stressed Malaysia’s appreciation, leadership and people, for Al-Azhar Al-Sharif as a beacon of knowledge and a global institution that spreads the moderation of Islam. He noted that Al-Azhar graduates in Malaysia enjoy people’s respect and are at the top of the highest leadership positions within the country. He stressed that he would follow up on the implementation of what was agreed upon between the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
