His Eminence Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam (GI), received today, Wednesday, at Al-Azhar, Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, Qatari Minister of State and President of the Qatar National Library.

His Eminence the Grand Imam stressed his pride in the strong relationship between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Qatari people, and his appreciation for the good positions of the State of Qatar towards various issues in the Arab and Islamic world. He sent his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and his good wishes for the Qatari people for continued progress, prosperity, security and safety.

Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kawari expressed his happiness for meeting the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, and conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Emir of Qatar and the Qatari people, and his country’s great appreciation for His Eminence’s courageous stances towards various issues of the Arab and Islamic nations, and his pioneering stances in promoting interfaith dialogue. He stressed that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is a beacon of knowledge for the Islamic world, and a source of pride for Muslims around the world.

Al Kawari confirmed the library’s readiness to cooperate with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and open up horizons of cooperation in a way that serves the interests of researchers and students. He added that the library contains more than one million books and has a special section for heritage books and seeks to consolidate its cultural role by strengthening relations with cultural and educational institutions around the world, most notably Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
