His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, received at Al-Azhar's headquarters His Excellency Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders (MCE).

 

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar welcomed Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam to Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, noting that he is a son of Al-Azhar, who worked at Al-Azhar during a time of extreme danger, and was loyal to his religion, his country, and the institution. Today, Al-Azhar welcomes him with love and appreciation. His Eminence emphasized that Judge Abdelsalam’s sincere efforts in serving Al-Azhar regionally and globally have never ceased, from his time as advisor to Al-Azhar until today, through numerous fruitful global initiatives and positions.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam expressed his sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the Muslim Council of Elders for the efforts of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of Egypt, praising his efforts and positions in supporting the issues of the nation, especially his honorable position and the Egyptian state’s on the Palestinian issue, and the rejection of the displacement of our brothers in the Gaza Strip from their land. He stressed that this honorable position is worthy of admiration, and that our dear homeland, Egypt, is always in need of the solidarity of all its sons to achieve its renaissance and progress, and to preserve its security and stability.

 

Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam expressed his honor and happiness for visiting the Grand Imam, recalling the ten years he spent as an advisor to His Eminence, stating, “I accompanied my teacher and sheikh, Imam Al-Tayyeb, for more than ten years during my work as an advisor to His Eminence. I learned a lot from his wisdom, and I have never seen anyone more sincere than Imam Al-Tayyeb in serving Islam, the nation, and humanity, and in his love of peace and his support for the truth. I have never seen anyone more devoted to this venerable institution, which Allah Almighty has chosen to preserve the Sharia and the language. History is the best witness to what Imam Al-Tayyeb, an Islamic symbol, has provided in supporting the causes of Islam and Muslims, serving our dear country, Egypt, and his dedication to spreading the values of peace, brotherhood, and coexistence. Al-Azhar has witnessed, during His Eminence’s tenure, an unprecedented development in its history, and a global leadership in spreading the message of tolerant Islam and its enlightened moderate thought. His positions on various issues have become the focus of attention of the whole world.”

 

The Secretary-General of the MCE explained that the Grand Imam's announcement that Egypt will host the second edition of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue, scheduled to be held at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif next year, stems from Egypt's pioneering role and historic stances in uniting the Muslim Ummah. His Eminence also stressed the importance of beginning preparations for this important conference by the Islamic Dialogue League, especially after the great success achieved by the first edition of the conference, which was held in the Kingdom of Bahrain this month.
