Grand Imam and the new Pope of Vatican affirm commitment to dialogue and human fraternity

His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, congratulated His Holiness Pope Leo XIV during a phone call today, Wednesday, on his election as the new Pope of the Catholic Church.
During the phone call, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar wished that the new pontiff would succeed in promoting peace and fraternity in the world. The two religious icons emphasized the need for solidarity and intensified efforts to end the wars and conflicts plaguing our world, affirming their determination to continue the path of dialogue and human fraternity to promote global peace.
The call also addressed the tragic situations in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, and other countries suffering the scourges of war and conflict. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Pope Leo XIV emphasized the need to end all wars and armed conflicts that have claimed the lives of innocent people around the world.
