On December 27, 2015, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Professor Ahmad At-Tayyeb showed a kind human gesture towards women when he received the Iraqi Yazidi citizen Nadia Murad, during her visit to Cairo and her meeting with President El Sisi. The Grand Imam offered moral and psychological support to Murad, who had witnessed terrorism and suffered at the hands of the terrorist ISIS organization.
During his meeting with her, His Eminence expressed his sympathy for the human tragedy that occurred at the hands of the terrorist ISIS organization, whose criminal acts violate all divine and religions laws, international charters, and human conventions. All these laws prohibit assault on humans, whatever their beliefs, color, or gender might be, stressing that crimes of “this terrorist organization against the Yazidi women and others have nothing to do with Islam and that Islam disavows them.”
